Sketch by Chiang Yee in “The Silent Traveller in San Francisco” 1963.
My photo, June 13, 2003.
I didn’t find a single postcard I liked at the Japanese Garden. When I returned home, I discovered that I had stood on the exact spot where Chiang Yee stood forty years previous and sketched this arched bridge. The two little boys he mentions clambering up the bridge seem to be there still.
I posted some more photos on the Hajimemashou site.
