Today, AJM took down the last bit of counter tile backsplash, and the cast iron kitchen sink. After six and a half months, the tear down is finally complete.
As my handyman pointed out yesterday, this is really a week to celebrate. For the first time in the history of this project, we are actually putting things up and not just tearing them down. The electrician has been here. Notice the prep for the over-the-counter lighting in the ceiling. The most expensive part of the project has been rewiring the kitchen to add grounded plugs and to bring other parts of the house wiring up to code. Another bonus: rebuilding the exterior wall means we get to install OSB sheathing to replace the tar paper and add insulation. This will be the only sheathed and insulated wall in our whole house.
